Current employment
I edit an art and technology online news service - fineArt forum.
fineArt forum is a pioneer not-for-profit online news service dedicated
to the provision of news and information for the global arts and
technology community. I am also a casual academic and researcher
within QUT's School of Media and Journalism where I lecture in online
journalism.
As editor of fineArt forum, I manage a team of 20. Besides overseeing
production and content, I am focussed on steering its creative identity
and forming alliances with arts and Internet organizations within
the Asia Pacific region. As a QUT academic, the statisfaction lies
in being able to pass on knowledge to students and I strongly believe
its a two-way process - you learn as much as you give to students."If
you're not living on the edge you're taking up too much space. My
career ambition is to stay on the forefront of new media, using
new communications and information technologies for global reporting.
QUT rewards
QUT has provided me with an all-round education. Learning basic
industry skills, practices and theoretical perspectives are one
thing. But what was more valuable was the ability to trial and test
out new ideas, and watch them progress or fail, and learn from these
mistake. I picked up very useful thinking strategies, especially
with research work, that can be applied to any job. |
