Here Nicole Kidman has the
role of a lifetime - she plays Suzanne, a small-town woman who would
do anything to make it in TV news. Suzanne starts with a job at a
station and pushes till she gets an on-air role, doing the nightly
weather reports, and continues with a documentary on high school kids.
She goes all out to be famous, including killing her husband and sleeping
with a network executive on her honeymoon.
All is fine till her husband, played by Matt Dillon, starts to discourage
her career, she then manipulates three school kids into killing him.
With a very documentary feel, told in overlapping cuts and interviews,
the movie cuts between past and present and we can only watch it unfold
as the characters reflect on the event's meaning. Certainly not the
movie of the year but nevertheless entertaining. |
